Vessels wishing to arrange Haven Bridge to be lifted should contact the Operations Office 24 hours in advance on +44 (0)1493 335503 (open Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:00).
Bridge lifts are arranged in order to group vessels together and minimise disruption to the town’s traffic and are undertaken during normal working hours but avoiding the peak traffic periods (08:00 to 09:15 and 12:00 to 13:00) with the last lift of the day normally being at 16:15. Haven Bridge is only manned for planned lifts and arrangements must be made 24 hours prior to the required lift or on the last working day before the weekend (or Bank Holiday). Breydon Bridge is manned from 08:00 to 17:00 during Winter months and from 06:00 to 22:00 or sunrise to sunset (whichever is shorter) during the Summer months and is lifted in response to planned lifts of Haven Bridge.
Inbound vessels should contact Port Marine Services on VHF Channel 12 prior to approaching the entrance to request clearance to enter. They should also obey the Port signal lights displayed from the end of Gorleston Pier (South Pier). On approach to the bridge, vessels should contact Haven and Breydon Bridges, again on VHF Channel 12, prior to passing through the bridge and then follow the Bridge Masters’ instructions.
Vessels passing through the Harbour should be aware of the possibility of large vessels manoeuvring or swinging in the restricted Port area and must advise Port Marine Services of their movements. They should obey the stop signals exhibited at the old Port Operations building in Brush Bend and await North of the Lifeboat Station if the lights are on signifying that there is another vessel inbound.
Please note that enquires regarding air drafts, mooring and/or navigational aspects of G.Y.P.C. controlled areas should be directed to the Harbour Office +44 (0) 1493 335511.
