Pat McNamara
The Harbour Master's role is centred on the conservancy function and the maintenance of the Company's navigation, plus associated responsibilities for the implementation of safety regimes and the marine environmental management.
Pat followed a career in the Merchant Navy on a variety of ships from 900 to 230.000 tonnes up to the rank of Ship's Master before commencing shore employment in 1980. He spent a short period with HM Coastguard before entering the ports industry.
Pat has been Harbour Master at Great Yarmouth since 2002.
Brian Philpot
The Commercial Accountant is responsible for the Company's financial management and budgetary planning and control.
Brian is the longest serving member of the Executive team, having joined the Port in 1978. He began his career with accountants Lovewell Blake, before working for Ladbroke Holidays Limited. He became Assistant Management Accountant at Matthes Bakery Limited in 1975, before joining the Port three years later as an Accountancy Assistant and progressing to the position of Accountancy Officer. He became the Commercial Accountant in 2000.
